At Raja Ampat Freediving, a proud member of the Juara Holding Group, the safety and well-being of our guests and crew are paramount. Operating within the remote and pristine UNESCO Biosphere of Raja Ampat, particularly for specialized activities like deep dive performance and pure breath apnea, demands an unwavering commitment to the highest standards of safety, regulatory compliance, and emergency preparedness. Our operational framework is meticulously designed to meet and exceed both international best practices and stringent Indonesian governmental regulations, ensuring every luxury freediving expedition in the Bird’s Head Seascape is as secure as it is exhilarating.

We believe that true E-E-A-T (Expertise, Experience, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) in the luxury adventure sector is built upon a foundation of transparent compliance and proactive safety measures. From our certified instructors to our state-of-the-art equipment and comprehensive emergency protocols, every detail is managed with precision and foresight.

    • Regular Vessel Inspections: Our fleet undergoes rigorous, scheduled maintenance and safety inspections to ensure all equipment, including life rafts, life jackets, fire extinguishers, and communication systems, are in optimal working condition.
  3. Insurance & Social Security

    • BPJS Ketenagakerjaan: All our Indonesian employees are covered by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, the national social security program for employment, ensuring their welfare and protection.
    • Guest Travel Insurance: While we maintain comprehensive operational liability insurance, we strongly recommend and assist guests in obtaining their own comprehensive travel and freediving-specific insurance, including medical evacuation coverage.

International Certifications & Best Practices

  3. Divers Alert Network (DAN) Partnership

    • We maintain a strong affiliation with DAN Asia-Pacific, ensuring our team is up-to-date with the latest dive medicine and safety protocols, and has access to their global emergency assistance network.

Emergency Protocols & Preparedness

  1. Comprehensive Emergency Action Plans (EAPs)

    • Site-Specific EAPs: We develop and regularly review detailed Emergency Action Plans for each freediving site, including those around Misool, Wayag, and the Dampier Strait, outlining procedures for various scenarios.
    • Medical Evacuation Procedures: Clear protocols are in place for medical emergencies, including immediate first aid, stabilization, and rapid evacuation to the nearest appropriate medical facility (e.g., Sorong’s hospitals, or specialized facilities in Makassar or Jakarta for severe cases). We coordinate with AirNav Indonesia for potential air ambulance services.
  2. Communication & Tracking

    • Satellite Communication: All expedition vessels are equipped with satellite phones and marine VHF radios, ensuring constant communication capability even in remote areas.
    • Vehicle & Vessel GPS Tracking: Our primary vessels and land transport vehicles are equipped with GPS tracking systems, allowing for real-time monitoring of their location for enhanced safety and logistical coordination.
  3. First Aid & Oxygen Provision

    • Advanced First Aid Kits: Comprehensive medical kits, including emergency oxygen, are carried on all vessels and at freediving sites, regularly checked and restocked.
    • Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs): Available on our primary expedition vessels for immediate response to cardiac emergencies.

Aviation & Logistics Coordination

  • Garuda Indonesia & AirNav Indonesia: We work closely with Garuda Indonesia for reliable domestic air travel to Sorong (Domine Eduard Osok Airport – SOQ) and coordinate with AirNav Indonesia for flight schedules and any necessary air traffic services, ensuring seamless guest transfers.
